The Public Interest Law Center of Philadelphia is pleased to host the final seminars of the 2012-2013 Know Your Child’s Rights series. This session is specially designed for parents of children with disabilities who may have a need to request a hearing under Chapter 14 (special education), Chapter 15 (504) or Chapter 16 (Gifted) on behalf of their student and who do not have the ability to access counsel or who choose not to access counsel. Planning in today's uncertain environment requires that nonprofit leaders know where their organization stands financially. In this 60-minute webinar, NFF offers nonprofit managers the guidance they need to lead during challenging times, offering tips on managing cash flow through use of reports that will identify months of low cash. The session also identifies the ways in which cash flow management can be essential to accessing credit.

This session will review the legal means of reaching settlements between school districts and parents. Participants will come away with knowledge about how settlements can be crafted and what not to do. Ways of settling including IEP meetings, mediation and resolution sessions will be discussed. Recent case decisions from the E. District of Pennsylvania will be shared and analyzed. Chuck Pugh, a local attorney with significant expertise in settlement matters, will join Sonja Kerr.

Participants will be introduced to the components of PASE's College Prep Milestones rubric, a tool outlining benchmarks for the skills youth (Grades 5-16) should demonstrate during the college prep process. The tool is organized by categories: academic readiness, social-emotional readiness, college exposure, knowledge of the college application process, and career readiness. Participants will learn how to make links to their own organization's practices for supporting young people during the college prep process.

In January, 2006, the Out-of-School Time Resource Center (OSTRC) at the University of Pennsylvania hosted its first Peer Networking Meeting. These monthly meetings allow out-of-school time (OST) staff to socialize, collaborate, and problem-solve with professional peers. Each PNM features a peer panel and a multitude of opportunities to talk, network, and think about OST! They are an informal meeting and sharing opportunities for administrative as well as frontline staff. Moreover, attending Peer Networking Meetings can count toward formal training hours.
