Safe Routes Philly is the youth education program of the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia that promotes biking and walking as fun, healthy forms of transportation in Philadelphia Elementary Schools. As part of the “Get Healthy Philly” Campaign, Safe Routes Philly Community Representatives offer curriculum, training, support and resources for public elementary school teachers. Safe Routes Philly offers a supporting website and telephone-based assistance to help 2nd and 5th grade teachers in implementing pedestrian (2nd grade) and bicycle (5th grade) safety lessons. In addition to the curriculum, we help individual schools create sustained encouragement campaigns to get their kids walking and biking safely on a regular basis.
The Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia makes bicycling better through advocacy and education by promoting biking as a healthy, low-cost, and environmentally-friendly form of transportation and recreation.
